Aftermath Bar & Kitchen is set to make its uptown Phoenix debut on Friday, Nov. 19.
The stylish bar and restaurant come from Charles Barber Jr., co-founder of Hush Public House, one of Scottsdale's trendiest new restaurants of 2019.
After leaving Hush Public House earlier this year, he teamed up with longtime friend Dave Bowman, former executive chef of Zinc Bistro to open the restaurant near the northwest corner of 16th Street and Bethany Home Road.
Barber spent 14 years behind the bar at Zinc Bistro, so guests can expect a beverage program featuring classic and craft cocktails, which Barber promises will "push the envelope," The Arizona Republic previously reported.
There will also be an extensive wine list and an oyster bar called "The Drift Bar," according to the restaurant's reservation page.
Barber said he's also planning to open a second location of Aftermath in Gilbert in spring 2022.
According to Aftermath's Instagram pictures, guests can expect a space with exposed brick walls, a marble bar and dark, deep-padded booths. Surround sound and dim, mood lighting add to the ambiance.
The beverage menu features a wine list with options by glass or bottle, beer and cocktails. Twists on classic cocktails include the Baller Sour, featuring St. George Baller Single Malt, ginger liqueur, lemon juice, green tea simple syrup and Bittermens orange bitters.
Dishes on Aftermath's Instagram page include hamachi collar with miso-pickled vegetables, roasted shiitakes, peanut crumble and kecap manis, a sweet soy sauce that originated in Indonesia.
Other featured plates include beef fat fries, macaroni and cheese and a multi-textured dish of roasted baby beets, arugula, boursin cheese spread, balsamic vinaigrette, orange, rye chips, pistachio, oregano and Banyuls wine.
The restaurant works with local suppliers to source ingredients, such as French fries from Frites Street and macaroni from Sonoran Pasta Co.
