I tried the new Hot Cheetos ice cream so you don't have to

I once believed San Antonio could never have too many Hot Cheetos-infused snacks, but a new treat by Marble Slab is where I draw the line.

The Texas-based creamery is known to concoct unique mash-ups, but their attempt to bring fire to ice is a Flamin' Hot mess.

The New York Post calls it a "creamy and dreamy concoction," Delish also says it's a "dream combination." I immediately gave the treat a side-eye, but as a of connoisseur of all things Flamin' Hot, I couldn't knock it before I tried it.

Knock knock! It's bad. Sweet dreams are not made of this.

I will say, it's not as bad as I thought it would be, but I definitely don't want it again. I like ice cream and I love Flamin' Hot Cheetos, but I hate them together.

To make matters worse, I drove nearly 30 minutes to try the ice cream — shoutout to U.S. 281 construction. The Marble Slab locations closest to me didn't have the ice cream and it doesn't seem like it's because it's a sellout. The super sweet employees at the San Pedro store I went to say the flavor has been available for about a week and it seems like only kids are interested. One of the workers didn't recommend that I go through with my order, but I spent the $7 anyway and subjected myself to the Hot Cheetos ice cream for you, our beloved readers.

There's also a Flamin' Hot-spun shake — I love y'all, but let's not get carried away.

The Hot Cheetos didn't overpower the vanilla flavor, but there was a slight spice. The consistency was the most asco-inducing. I tried my best to trick my brain into thinking the crunchy bits were pieces of nuts, but my mind knows the unmistakable crunch of a Flamin' Hot bag all too well. I obviously wasn't eating the ice cream with the quickness that I would if I had ordered something (anything) else so the Cheetos eventually got soggy.

I ordered it on a dark chocolate cone (for the aesthetics), which is the saddest part because I couldn't tolerate the taste long enough to eat my way to what was probably the only redeeming part of the snack. Once the vanilla ice cream started dripping I felt like it wasn't worth the hassle of sticky, messy hands and tossed the entire cone. I walked away wishing I could've tried the red velvet cake and Oreo cookies mixture instead.

Thankfully, my mom ordered a more traditional ice cream that she shared with me. It served as a nice chaser/palate cleanser after I tossed my order. And, I was able to save a family who walked up to the shop and seemed disgusted, but also a little intrigued by the promotional decals promising "delicious sweet heat." So the trip wasn't a total waste.

To each their own, though. If you want to try it for yourself, the ice cream is available until September 30. Call ahead to make sure the location you're planning on visiting sells it.
