This house has been officially removed from the Los Angeles real estate rotation! After barely a year of ownership, Golden Globe-nominated actress Jane Levy — probably most famous for her turn in the now-cancelled TV show “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist,” as a San Francisco coder who has the ability to hear the innermost thoughts of people around her as songs and musical numbers — has already offloaded her charming Craftsman-style residence in the Hollywood Hills.
Records show the new owner is Elizabeth Canney, wife of Tinseltown stalwart Brad Bird. The married Tinseltown couple — she a film editor for “Big” and “Batteries Not Included,” he a director/producer of “The Incredibles,” “Ratatouille,” “Tomorrowland” and “Mission: Impossible-Ghost Protocol” — doled out just under $3.9 million for the place, or around $600,000 more than Levy paid for it a little over a year ago, back in August 2021.
Originally built in the early 1900s, the century-old premises were previously renovated by noted L.A. interior designer Oliver Furth and further customized to the 32-year-old thespian’s personal tastes during her short stay. For instance, Levy added fresh paint — which included changing an en-suite master bedroom from a striking shade of cerulean blue to all-white — and updated the kitchen, baths and guesthouse.
Nestled on a heavily wooded parcel spanning one-third of an acre — amid an exclusive gated enclave in the foothills east of Runyon Canyon, where notable celebs such as Diane Keaton and Helen Mirren have lived through the years — the attractive dark green-shingled and white-accented structure features three bedrooms and an equal number of baths in a little more than 2,300 square feet of modernized living space rife with hardwood floors, wood-beam ceilings, built-ins and skylights.
Among the highlights: a light and airy entry room that flows to a fireside living room boasting walls of windows and a triangular bookshelf beneath the stairs, along with a dining room that has French doors spilling outside. There’s also a gourmet kitchen equipped with marble countertops, top-tier stainless appliances and a windowed breakfast nook sporting an integrated banquette, as well as a bedroom that doubles as a den.
Out back, the landscaped grounds host a pool, spa and large brick fireplace flanked by an al fresco dining area; and elsewhere on the property is the aforementioned detached two-story guesthouse, which looks to have a new roof deck, and another building that could easily serve as a studio, office or gym.
No word yet on whether Levy has picked up another pad in L.A. But Canney and Bird still have a Los Feliz home they paid just over $4 million for in 2014 and a 3.4-acre retreat in the Marin County town of Woodacre, owned since 2005.
