The average one-bedroom apartment in San Francisco is 700 square feet, but that might not be the case for your space. If your rental is hovering closer to that 500 or 600-square-foot range, we understand your struggle for trying to find room to live your life in your home. You can’t just go to the store and pick out the first piece of furniture that you fall in love with. You need to whip out your tape measure and make sure that table or couch will actually fit in the front door.

For those struggling to find a table that'll fit in their tiny kitchen (or their combination dining-living area), we’ve got a few options for you that don’t totally suck. We've all seen those basic three-piece dining sets in a light oak finish. They’re practical, but ugly. These options are practical, visually appealing, and will actually fit in your tiny space.

Dorel Living Tanner 3-Piece Brass Pub Set with Faux Marble Top, $169 (Normally $199)

Dimensions: Width 40” x Depth 22” x Height 36”

If you’re going for that modern aesthetic, this faux marble top table can fit the bill. If you can forgo back support in favor of space-saving, the stools in this set tuck right under the table when not in use. This table has the added benefit of additional storage with shelving underneath, too, where you can store dishware and glassware. If your kitchen is that small, lord knows your cabinet space is abysmal.

Scholar Vintage Industrial Counter Height Set, $211.89 (Regularly $325.99)

Dimensions: Width 49.1” x Depth 20.25” x Height 37"

For those who like the pub set style of table, but aren’t fans of marble, you can opt for this industrial style table from Target. The stools stack under the table to get out of your way when you need a little extra floor space.

Nero Marble Dining Table With Brass Base, $1,199

Not looking for faux marble? If you want the real deal, you can opt for this Crate & Barrel table. It comes in two marble tops: brown or white, both of which are supported by the same sturdy brass base. Sorry, no chairs included with this option.

Dimensions: Width 35” x Depth 19” (Minimum Depth 3”)

If you're truly pinched for space and need a table that gets out of your way entirely, try a table that folds into the wall. This drop-leaf table from IKEA is easily stowed when you need extra space, and it’s the most budget-friendly table on this list by a mile. It doesn't come with chairs, but for $39, what did you expect?

Mid-Century 5-Piece Dining Set by Baxton Studio, $214.49

Dimensions: Width 43” x Height 30” x Depth 28 inches

Mid-century modern is still going strong. This industrial-styled table fits with that aesthetic easily. Not every tiny kitchen needs a table with only two chairs, either. If your kitchen is small but not that small, you can totally get away with buying this five-piece dining set from Overstock.

Beige 5-Piece Dining Set Wood and Metal Pub Table with 4-Bar Stools, $144.49 (Normally $288.99)

Dimensions: Width 47” x Depth 24” x Height 35”

Not every table needs to be heavily designed around a decor style. This dining set has clean lines that can work with industrial modern or contemporary spaces. You can choose from two finishes, beige or espresso, depending on your color scheme. The product description says this is perfect for afternoon tea, just in case that's your thing.

Giantex 3-Piece Dining Set, $84.99 (Normally $139.99)

Dimensions: Width 31.5 x Depth 21" x Height 29.5"

Need a table that you can tuck chairs into when not in use? Sense a recurring theme here? Of course you do. Your kitchen is probably tiny if you're renting in San Francisco. Hell, any 600-square-foot rental doesn’t have much kitchen and dining space. This three-piece dining set offers added storage underneath the table as well.
