MARTINSVILLE, Va. – Hooker Furniture is introducing two major collections later this month at the High Point Market: Charleston and Nouveau Chic.

The Charleston collection showcases more than 90 pieces representing bedroom, dining room, home office, accents and occasional. Hooker says it embraces design inspiration from the West Indies and the Traditional South, harmonizing them into a singular voice. West Indies-inspired tropical craftsmanship feature botanical carving and woven cane, while Traditional South design elements include string inlays, hand skiving and fluted elements. Also featured are warm cherry veneers.

“This collection is inspired by the rich history, culture and charm of the Southeastern region developed from people all over the world who chose to settle there,” said Mike Harris, president of Hooker’s case goods and upholstery. “Charleston speaks to the traditionalists and a new generation of consumers redefining what that term means, so we created pieces that we feel offer a fresh take on classic forms, finishes and materials. We even went so far as to create an antique store within the presentation reminiscent of the experience one has perusing the streets of Charleston.”

The Nouveau Chic Collection is a 36-piece casual modern group drawing inspiration from what Hooker says are the “curvaceous yet uncomplicated designs that are popular today.” Nouveau Chic unites classic architectural elements like cathedral and quartered oak, movement of soft shapes, metallicized shagreen and polished metal accents for a modern look.

“The casual modern consumer is looking for calm, versatile pieces to anchor their homes and support their individual design choices,” said Jenni Jungers, executive vice president of merchandising. “Nouveau Chic delivers that, bringing a graceful blend of design, fashion, utility and performance into living spaces throughout the home.”

In addition to the two new collections, Hooker will expand its Big Sky collection released at the spring market. The extension is called Big Sky: Tahoe, which encompasses 21 new bedroom, dining room and occasional pieces.

“With the tremendous response to Big Sky last market we felt there was a broader expression of the groups inspiration, and we are excited to bring out these fresh, new additions,” said Harris.

Hooker Furniture, a division of Hooker Furnishings, will show in the Hooker Legacy Brands showroom in the International Home Furnishings Center, space C-1058.
