A little over six years ago, Wayne Chang bought this starkly contemporary Los Angeles home high atop the Sunset Strip. Now the serial entrepreneur and angel investor — best known for founding the mobile crash-reporting tool Crashlytics, which was acquired by Twitter in 2013 for upwards of $100 million and subsequently sold off to Google — has hoisted the property back up for sale, asking a speck under $5 million.

That asking price isn’t a huge amount above the $4.2 million Chang, 39, paid for the place back in March 2016, though it doesn’t appear he made many changes to the premises during his tenure. Sans a custom master suite closet installed by California Closets, the home’s numerous bespoke amenities — a glittery onyx exterior wall, and Merbau hardwood and Thassos marble floors imported from Asia and Greece, respectively — were largely added by a previous owner.

Built in 1975, but extensively renovated since, the gated stucco and steel-clad structure is windowless out front, and features three bedrooms and four baths in nearly 3,400 square feet of two-level living space. Walls of glass provide sweeping views from Downtown L.A. to the Pacific Ocean.

Besides the Poggenpohl kitchen, which has glossy cherry red cabinetry, dual islands, high-end stainless appliances and an adjoining dining area, there’s also a wet bar-equipped living room outfitted with a floor-to-ceiling linear fireplace flanked by built-in seating. Elsewhere is a plush movie theater with an entertainment bar, plus an expansive upstairs master retreat sporting a private balcony, fireplace, separate seating area, a loft space with bar, spacious walk-in closet and dual baths.

Outdoors, the lushly landscaped grounds host numerous decks ideal for al fresco lounging and entertaining, along with an infinity-edge pool with a Baja deck and swim-up bar. Topping it all off: a roof deck, as well as an attached two-car garage fronted by the aforementioned onyx wall.

Born in Taiwan, Chang reportedly wrote his first software program when he was just 7 years old. He went on to dabble in several ventures during high school, including the original Napster, and also founded the file-sharing system i2hub while attending college in Massachusetts.

The listing is held by Jason Oppenheim of The Oppenheim Group.
